Default Best FACTORY AR ammo for deer

New to AR's and only shoot a doe or 2 a year at 50-75 yards. What is the best FACTORY load for deer. I'm not into reloading. Barrel is 1:8. Thanks for any info

Last I checked it was illegal to use anything smaller than .24 caliber for deer/elk. .223 is legal for; coyotes, rabbits, squirrels

These regulations vary greatly from state to state. So as always consult your local state Conservation/DNR website for laws that will apply to your area.

Edit: As for the OP, look into Federal Fusion 62gr. They have impressive results for a small caliber hunting round.

Sent from a phone I can use to do my taxes, but can't make a damn call.

Caliber restrictions are on a state to state basis. Here in VA, .223, 22-250, 220 Swift are NOT legal for deer. HOWEVER, the poster is hunting in Mississippi, which does not have a caliber restriction for modern firearms.

Hornady makes an American whitetail round it is 60 grains I wouldn't go any lighter. Where I live if it is center fire rifle it is legal.

62 gr Federal Fusion is as good as it gets. The monolithic (copper/gliding metal) hollow points are good too! I refuse to use the 223 for deer, but I have shot hogs with both of these bullets and they would work as well as can be expected on deer size game.
Hope this helped.

I'm not much for Barnes bullets, but since you don't reload, those listed above by Alaska will be your best choice.
I use the 65gr Sierra Gameking, and the 70gr Speer soft point for my 223 deer loads.

Shot placement and limited shot range is the key to killing deer with a .224" bullet.

I've shot the federal fusion while doing some accuracy testing, but have not shot a deer with them. I found them to be one of the most accurate rounds in my rifle.

Something to consider if you have a few hundred dollars burning a hole in your pocket, would be a different upper chambered in 6.8 SPC or 6.5 Grendel. It allows you to shoot larger bullets, and extends the range you can humanely kill deer, all while using your AR.

FWIW, I took a pair of deer at 150 yards earlier this year with a 6.8 SPC. Neither ran. One shot was head on, and I recovered the bullet in the pelvis.
