Default Best deal on bulk .223 Rem?

This is for SHTF storage and target shooting for new AR-15's. I read that the 5.56 is usually designed for higher pressures and velocities and is generally considered to be unsafe to shoot from the civilian AR 15, which is why I'm looking for .223 Rem.

Anyone have their favorites? What to buy, and what NOT to buy?

Any ideas what your looking for ? HP, FMJ, soft point? 55 gr 62 gr 75 gr 82 gr ? brass , steel ?
if you rifle is stamped multi caliber or 5.56 that ammo is fine for your rifle however I find it a little more expensive than .223 ammo

FMJ Brass. Don't know about load. I'm researching for a friend who is buying two AR's but he doesn't have them yet. I would say, even if stamped for both, we'll stick with the .223 round.

I have a civilian AR 15 and it is marked 5.56x45. The Mini 14's are also chambered for 5.56x45 except for the target model. There are some AR's out there that have heavy barrels chambered for 223. Look at yours and see what it is chambered for. I dont hesitate to shoot mil spec through mine.

If your prepping for SHTF senerio you better make sure it will run steel ammo also , you want it to shoot what ever may be available. I have a couple of 1:7 barrels and they really like 62 gr , its far more accurate than the 55 in my gun with that barrel twist , 1:9 seems pretty universal and can basically shoot what ever you put to it from 45g to 75 gr without issues . Depending on what your willing to spend , I will suggest some good brands with good reps . BCM, LMT, Stag, PSA, RRA, S&W MP15, Noveske, Colt, Windham Weaponry, Mid range and higher DPMS, and the older Bushmasters made in Windham ME

I highly reccommed PMC Bronze, 55 grain, FMJ. They are about $6 a box or $5.50 if you want to buy in bulk. See link below to Able Ammo. I have a Stag 3 AR-15 and have put about 3,000 rounds of PMC through it over the past 10 months with zero jams or misfires. It is very accurate for target shooting (for any weekend recreational shooter anyway). Stay away from steel cased ammo. It's too dirty for an AR platform. For the price, you can't beat this round.

http://www.ableammo.com/catalog/bronze-line-rifle-ammunition-223a-remington-boat-tail-3200-rdsbox-p-106834.html. Currently out of stock there but they get it often. You can try Cheaperthandirt.com too.

Also I'll mimick what's said above, as long as the receiver is stamped for 5.56, you'll be fine shooting that from it. And PMC's X-Tac 5.56 62 grain only runs about $6.50ish a box..
