We recently bought a like-new Sig Sauer SIG Pro SP 2022 9mm and would like to get some opinions on the best ammo to use with it (for a self defense back up pistol).

Here are a few recommendations that have been suggested:
Cor-Bon 9mm 115 grain +P Jacketed Hollowpoint
Federal 115 grain JHP
Winchester Silvertip 115 grain
Federal 124 grain Hydra-shok
Remington 115 grain +P JHP

Whatever quality defensive ammo the gun likes and is available to you. Most Sigs are pretty ammo forgiving so grab something. (I prefer the heavier weights myself). Then buy a bunch of FMJ range ammo and practice, practice, practice...

+1 on NGIB. My Sig Pro-9 eats anything, but every gun is different. I use Remington Golden Sabre 124gr +P as my defenseive round, but that's just my preference. The shape of that bullet is very similar to hard ball and functions flawlessly for me. I try to practice with 124 gr FMJs, but honestly I can't tell much difference between them and 115s in practice, so use whatever is available and most affordable. Good luck!

Personally I use Federal Hydrashok HP 135gr ammunition in my 9mm. Not a SIG, but as the gentlemen said above, if the pistol's forgiving on the ammo, go for the biggest, meanest round you can find.
