I heard horror stories about Gold Dot and Winchester....I was wondering what is the best ammo out there for my Glock 36 .45 ACP. I currently use the one the dealer sent me which is a FMC Magtech 230 grain .45

Where do you hear such nonsense ? What kind of horror stories ?
Those are the 2 most effective rounds in use by LEO's today.

The Gold Dot does a terrific job as does the WW Ranger T series bonded core. The Gold Dot designed for short barrels would be best suited for your pistol.

Using FMJ is OK but you would be better off with JHP.

Horror stories about Gold Dots are pimarily from people who don't want to get shot by them. Those who have been shot by them agree, they suck! Of course most of them cannot speak because of the amount of soil muffling their words.

I trust GD's every day, in every handgun I own. There is NO finer ammo available, PERIOD.

I swear by Federal Hydrashocks. Several buddies that are LE carry them in their duty weapons as well as their personal carry pieces. They feed well in the Glocks that those guys own.

Gold Dots are a good choice too. As long as you're not running +P or +P+ in your Glock you'll be fine.

The stories I heard were on the internet from range reports, not from my experience. So I asked the question. Thanks for clearing my doubts.

I ordered 4 boxes of 45 AUTO+P 230 GR. JHP from Cor-Bon. I'll try out the Gold Dot and the Hydrashocks this weekend at the range.
