I have had about 100 7.62x39 Berdan primed cases sitting around for a while, A friend gave me an old jewelers drill press of sorts, It finally dawned on my that I could use it for just such a job.
So first off, Here are the Berdan primed cases.
This one I tried another method of removal, But I kept breaking the tip of the tool.




I used a 3/32" brill bit to drill a single flash hole rather than the double smaller Berdan type.

It takes about a min. to drill through the brass, The motor is kind of weak, But it does its job in the end.



Now off to the press for de-capping and sizing.



Here are a few I managed to finish.

Only about 90 more and in to the walnut shell for a good cleaning.

If you really want to do it RIGHT get the tool.

You may have ignition problems with your method. As there are no three flash holes and you never know what that might to do pressures in the chamber. Be careful be very very very careful.

That's too much time and effort for me for a 7X39. Nice rainy day project I guess.

Yup, Its not for everyone.
Honestly There isn't much I like more than toiling away in the shop, Well other than squeezing off a few rounds or two.

I made one of those, It kept breaking, I also tried the Hydraulic press type.

I had 100 mine finished in about an hour.

Check on the diameter and depth of the primers. I seem to recall Berdan primers are larger in diameter than Boxer primers. I could be wrong, but check.
