Anyone here tried loading their own snakeshot?

I use the rounds around the farm, but they are commercial loads. I wondered if anyone has ever reloaded their own. How would you keep the shot in the dome and how would you press in the dome without crushing it. Must be a way since I can buy new loads. Thanks for the help.

Yes- two ways. Here is the easy way- Google

You fill the plastic capsule with shot in a size of your choice. load over a measured amount of powder (unique is pretty good) crimp lightly.

Have also made .45 ACP shot loads using cut down .308 brass, with a gascheck for over and under shot wads.

Max effective range about 25 FEET. Rifling tends to impart spin to shot, resulting in pattern that looks like doughnut.

I have loaded hundreds of .38/.357 shot shells. I prefer .357 cases for use in .357 revolvers. I take the suggested loads from Speer and reduce them significantly. I use 7 1/2 shot. The reduced velocity gives better patterns and the larger shot gives greater lethalithy to the shot. The factory loaded shot shells are too fast and use #8 or #9 shot. The afore descibed donut shaped pattern does not kill snakes or rodents reliably.

I have killed countless barn and field rats with these loads.

I have also used gas checks to make .41 mag shot shells. They work well.

Thanks for the replies. I emailed MidwayUSA and asked since I couldn't locate the capsules anywhere and they sent me the link. They are something like $8.05/50. Not bad, I am going to try some. Take care.
