I checked Grafs, they're out of stock.

It is not the war so much as guys that are hording. They are buying 5000 or 10,000 at a time now. The demand has also gotten higher due to the recent skyrocketing prices on everything in the world except our paychecks. Yes it is hard to find some and when guys do they buy them all. The last time I went to Gander Mtn I bought every single pack of Small rifle, Large rifle, and large pistol primer they had on their shelf. That is just the way I roll.

The primers used by the military and the ones used by reloaders are not the same and I am sure they are not running on the same line either. Plus not every manufacture of primers (CCI, Federal, Remington, Winchester, Wolf, Magtech ect...) are making primers for the military.

So their is a war on line is total BS. They don't have them because they can't keep up with demand. At least that is what the guys at Midway USA told me. He said they are setting records everymonth for the ammount of stuff being sold.

Yep , the whole thing is a self contained monster .

I'm sure the first series of price hikes were helped along by the war due to the simple usage of raw materials in the quantities needed , then came the added fear of electing Obama .

As the retailers ran low or out they pushed the demand back to the whole sellers and eventually the manufactures at every stage businessmen decided they could get a little bigger piece of the pie for themselves which only added to the rumors and buying frenzy which in turn causes another bump of higher prices and on and on the monster feeds itself .

My dad was looking for some hollow point ammo the other day. The guy in Walmart told him that they didn't have any hollow point ammo because it was all going to the war.

For those that don't know, HP ammo is strictly prohibited by The Law of Land Warfare.

Like others have said, it's a combination of price hikes in raw materials and hoarding that make things expensive and hard to find.

This made me chuckle. Not something I would expect to hear from you Captain...

LOL - Nothing like getting the most accurate information available from the helpful folks at Wal*Mart...

I would have loved to hear that conversation - Did your dad inform him of the Hague? LOL

My dad did some interesting work in Viet Nam for the Special Forces and LRRPs. He isn't all that familiar with the Hague Protocols.

I have been buying all my reloading gear from MidSouth Shooters Supply for the last 15 years and have only once been told that they were out of small rifle primers - and that was last December. They also said it was due to wartime production. I re-ordered from them in March and was able to buy as many as I wanted. Also their prices are better than anyone else, and they are courteous. They will also package your order to save you money on hazmat fee's if and when possible. Try to find THAT anywhere else...
