I have not bought a single loaded round since this whole mess started, and the only place I buy components is my local gun shop that refuses to price gouge their customers, I still get Big Game for $23 a lbs just as I always have, and Speer/Sierra rifle bullets for $23-$29 a box.

I can find 9mm, .40, .223, .308win, etc., but no .22 rimfire. I'm ok for the next year or so but still could use a couple of more bricks of .22 long rifle and some .22 shorts.

Regarding 22LR, what has worked well for me is to sign up for "product arrival notifications" with an online store. I use Midway. The email and text come in and if you move fast, meaning drop everything and place your order immediately, you can snag a brick now and then. If you wait 5 minutes, don't even bother; it's already gone.

If you want Walmart-level prices, this isn't for you, and it's not a good way to build up a large inventory. But if you just want a little breathing room to feel ok about shooting until the panic is over, it's a respectable way to buy. I've been paying 4 to 7 cents per round, plus tax and shipping. Better yet, find an outfit close to you that allows pickup of online orders, and save the shipping cost. Much better than paying the gougers' prices.

It's been fortunate for me to score 9mm, 223/5.56 and 22LR during panic period. I scored from online. Totally agree with the other member said about online notifications or notify me lists. Once you get the email, forget the world and focus of ordering asap.
Some online vendors allow you to buy bulk and some put a limit per order/ customer.
When that happened, i ordered with 2 or more accounts. . Either you have to be smart and keep your eyes/ ears open.. or just left stranded staring at your hungry guns.

When the last severe panic shortage occurred in 1994, it took two years to get the ammo back to normal.

This will be over in less than a year.

Kinda funny though. Around here at least, 9MM, and 223 disappeared overnight. .308 and .30-06 was done in a couple of days. .45 and .22 followed a few days later. We never really had a very bad shortage of .40, .38 Special, or any of the magnums.

That gives me an idea what's popular in this part of the country.

This is still the exception, not the rule.

Agreed. Never the less, ammo and firearms here vanished off the shelves along with the rest of the country and its now beginning to return. It may not be happening at the same rate in all areas but I seriously doubt there is anything special about us as to why we are seeing stuff and others are not.

Be clear that ammo IS AVAILABLE. You just have to be willing and able to pay for it. Getting your favorite at a price you like is another matter.

Picked up 250 rounds of Remington UMC at Wally World today for $64 , they had just about everything in bulk and 20-50 round boxes, except for ...... You guessed it 22LR
