I just gave my son about 1000 rds. of 223 last week. I didn't need it and he did. I
Over the past couple of years I would pick up a box of some kind of ammo almost everytime I went to wally world. My wife kept asking me if I didnt already have enough. Of course you know my answer to that one. "Yes. Dear." Then take it to the checkout counter anyway.
I have 3 50 cal cans full, 2 30 cal cans. full, a 40 mm ammo can full and a large dresser drawer full. All calibers and gauges I shoot from .22 to 12 gauge.
I did a quick inventory last night and I'm ok for about the next 6 months even if I didn't buy anything else but I did pick up a box of .270 yesterday at Wally World.
$19.00 a box. A little steep in my opinion but it was there and I had an extra 20 in my pocket.
BTW, I wouldn't relax yet on the magazine bans being dead. They have a way of sneaking things past us. Just attach it to a bill about feeding the children or saving the fairy shrimp or something like that. Be very careful boys and girls. Ive seen this kind of sh!t before.

Just to confirm current real world prices. I picked up 50 round boxes of steel cased .45 FMJ for $15.45 a box and 100 round winchester white box FMJ .40 caliber for $34.57 at Walmart today. Limit 3 boxes per customer per day, so I went to 2 Walmart's to get the quantity I wanted.

Also I found out from another customer who was waiting with me for an associate to get out of a meeting so they could unlock the case and sell ammo, that the Walmart's in my area (MD) do not sell ammo from 10pm-7am due to staffing issues.

Why do we have two almost identical threads on this subject? Same title, same OP, same yickityyak?

Supply was a major factor when I first considered what caliber to get. A year or so ago all accounts suggested that 9mm would always be available. I even asked if that if there were more 9mm pistols, wouldn’t that mean there would actually be less 9mm ammo around. Everybody said, “No”. That there would always be more 9mm supply than demand.

Ha!

Makes me wish I got a .40 G23 and a 9mm barrel instead of the 9mm G19. I didn’t know one could do that at the time. Not that .40 is especially abundant now, but it would’ve been nice to have the flexibility.

If I learned one thing it's that .243 .380 and .270 are good calibers to have as they are always in stock at my Walmart.
