My daughter went to the LGS for me yesterday, they had 250 of 5.56 + an ammo can for $ 140.00. Don't now how many they had but she said it wasn't going to last long with all the foot traffic coming in there just for those.

It's the Range. I went in yesterday and its up to $500 per 1k. They had at least 5k left. I personally think its too much to pay for PMC bronze.

I found some Hornaday steel match 55 & 75 gr at Cabelas, for what I think is a reasonable price; 750 rds for $330. Of course Cabelas stated about 2-3 weeks b4 delivery. Ordered it last night and expected delivery date is around end of January. I hope that happens...they have been very good about there times before. Hope this helps.. anfd it is still avsilable.

Oh ok. my "store bought" AR is stamped with ".223/5.56" on the lower, and the barrel is clearly stamped '5.56 1/7' the AR that I put together has the same ".223/5.56" stamped onto the lower --indicating that it's a rifle lower and an 18 year old can buy it, but he can only put a 16" barrel or longer on it. the lowers that are marked in a handgun caliber or not marked for any specific caliber are typically sold as "pistols" so only someone who's 21 can buy one, but then you can put a shorter barrel on it. there may be other legalities as well, but that's just my basic understanding of it

anyway, the barrel on the upper I built is also stamped with the caliber, "5.56 NATO 1/9"

If you want to find .223/5.56 ammo, go to gunbroker. I found thousands of rounds of. 223/5.56 ammo. Unfortunately, alot of it was seriously escalated in price. One seller obviously was taking advantage of the shortage. I counted at least 6000 rounds he was selling. Mostly either in 200 or 400 round lots@ very inflated price @ almost a dollar around! I know, I know, free enterprise and all that. However another shooter(?) gouging other shooters just doesn't seem right. A little profiting is understandable, but a 100% markup, c'mon man. He obviously isn't the only one, but stockpiling to create a shortage, and then extreme profiteering from gun owners , feels like the BHO admin is screwing us yet again.

Why don't you try wax bullets. For practice there cheaper, safer and can be shot indoors. At close range they can be as lethal as live ammo. You can load them 50 at a time with the Easyloader block. and press in under a minute.
