Think of one of those "End of civilization" situations where every body is stocking up on gold and silver because currency would be useless. A can of beans would be worth more than gold. Heck a box of 22 rim fire would be worth more. As previously stated, gold would make good cast bullets and I feel, fishing weights. Already with this 22 ammo shortage I have my friends trading me other ammo I want for boxes of mine and even though I try to be fair with them on equal value, I am still coming out ahead. I saw the writing on the wall after 2008 and started buying a case or two of 22 ammo at a time instead of bricks while it was plentiful for several years after that and before the 2012 fiasco.
Silver would be a better bet.
I read somewhere online of a guy who made some gold bullets in the 80s (when gold wasn't as high). They were apparently a PITA, and gold just crumbles when it impacts.
