Default Acceptable Ammo for New Remington 1911r1

Does anyone know if you can use +P in the new Remington? Bought one yesterday from a local dealer, and they sold me Hornady 45 AUTO +P 230 gr TAP FPD, and American Eagle 45 AUTO Full Metal Jacket 230 gr. I read the manual later that night, and saw that they tell you not to use +P, and to use a muzzle velocity 835, or below. The Hornady comes out of the muzzle at 960, and the American Eagle at 890. Do you think there'd be a problem using these ammos in the gun. I have 100 AE rounds, and 20 Hornady.

What does the book say? Read the instructions and check the barrel to see what it says. One of the two should tell you the answer. If not try to google it.

I dont see that you have been over to the introduction section yet. If you could, please swing over there and tell us a little bit about yourself.

Found your answer on Remingtons web site.

The 1911 R1 is designed for use with industry standard SAAMI spec ammunition. It is not designed for use with +P ammo nor is it recommended that this ammo be used in your firearm.

He said that himself, he's wondering what others may have used in their Remington and what damage may occur if he shoots the ammo he has already purchased.

I wouldn't worry about 20 rounds of +P in my weapons even if it's not recommended, but I don't own the Remington 1911. I noticed Winchester White Box 230 FMJ and Remington UMC and Express 230 FMJ are rated at 835fps on Midway's web site. The Speer Gold Dot, Short Barrel 230 JHP is rated at 820fps and the Speer Lawman is too. The Speer Lawman Cleanfire is rated at 830. I'm not sure what to think of a pistol rated below most of the factory ammo I've just looked through, I'm also wondering if that means all the 200gr and 185gr ammo is not recommended either.

I see he has three different threads with the same question.
