Default 7mm Reminton Mag

Fellas, I'm going to start loading some 7mm Rem. mag for a guy with either 140 or 150 grain projectiles and was wondering if anyone had a favorite load for that caliber?

I have some 4831 in the powder box and a couple thousands magnum Win. primers and a $hitload of his once fired brass. I'm not opposes to trying a different powder and actually I would like to start working with 4350.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Joe

In my remington 700bdl before I converted it to STW the best load I found was
Rem case, 140gr Nosler BT
Fed 215 primer
63.0 gr of IMR 4350
---------------------------------------------
Disclaimer-----
This load was at or near max according to my reloading manuals at the time I used it. However it showed no signs of pressure in my rifle. As always start low work up slowly

64gr IMR4831 under a barnes 140gr XFB.
62gr IMR4831 under a barnes 160gr XFB.
63gr IMR4831 under a Hornady 139gr SPBT

I picked up some 120gr bullets, but have not had time to play w/ them yet.
You should start all these loads at 60gr and work up. These are about max loads. I use CCI Lg Magnum primers.

I think the 4831 SC is the ideal powder for the Rem Mag. 4831 is the standard all others are judged against. The Short Cut version meters better and settles in the case better for superior efficicency.

Thanks for the offer Robo but the guy I'm doing the reloading for wants 140 grain bullets, Speed Freak. Those Nozlers are some awesome bullets, I use them in my 7mm-08.

It's all good. I looked and it is some 160's and some 175's all partitions. I shoot 7 X 57 and stick to the 139/140's to ease the strain on the old small ring Spanish actions. There is not much in Texas that requires a heavy like that.

Robo, I went to Midway's web site last night and they have the Nosler ballistic tips in 140 grain for $16.99, the catch-22 is that it cost $7.00 to ship a box of fifty. They get you coming and going don't they? I guess I'm going to have to take a ride to Gander.
