Haven't found any hard info on the polar bear hunting, but have also heard of them being taken with much smaller rounds than that. Can't recall the name of the round though.

That's not the one I was thinking of... It was something like a .260 Weatherby maybe, I don't know for sure. It had a second number (Like .30-06, designating caliber and year) but it designated caliber and charge I think, and was something like ???-200. heck I can't remember for sure, I'd have to really dig to find that information.
