I am just wondering if I can use a .243 Winchester neck sizing die to size the neck of 6 mm Remington brass? I have a tool that can deprime the cases as a separate operation, but was also wondering if the .243 neck die will be too short to deprime them? I think it will work as the whole length of the neck does not have to be resized; just enough of it to firmly hold the bullet. But, I want some other opinions.

Thanks Marlinman. That's about what I figured. It was hard enough to find 6 mm Remington dies. The only neck sizing die I could find was very pricey. The .243 die was very reasonable. I went ahead and ordered it. I'll post my results in a few days.

THe 6mm and the .243 use the same bullets. Most run from 80 grains on the light side to 105 grains on the heavy side. 105's are appropriate for both cartridges as long as the 6mm is post 1957 or so

I load both 6mm and .243. I use the same neck sizing die for both. Make sure not to push the shoulder back on the 6mm cases since they are longer. The depriming pin will work to, just adjust it.
Thanks for all of the responses. You guys should know as well as anyone that rifles are unpredictable and once fired, some bullets will do some crazy things. As far as the old .244 Remington w/ the 1 in 12 twist not being able to stablize the 100 grain spire point; that is true to an extent. I have seen .244's w/ the slower twist and the 100 grain spitzers lay them into one hole. I have also seen others that looked as though 00 buckshot was fired at the target. Run 90 grains through them and they start behaving quite civilian like. It all depends on the individual rifle I guess.
