I'm probably not to much smarter than the people at the LGS. The +p and the autos neither feed threw my gun lol. So I wasted some money there.

Then something else is wrong. almost any gun will feed ball ammo.My colt could not digest semi-wad cutter but everything else goes thru. Are these reloads by chance?

No they are not reloads and they weren't ball either. I just bought a box of BJHP and they seem to feed so far.

If it's like most shoot it 300-500 rounds and keep it lubed to get it broke in. It will really run and feel better after it breaks in. I have had feeding problems with semi wad cutters.

I have yet to see a +P in my neck of the woods (area). Handgun ammunition does not have a shelf life in the big box stores, nor the LGS!

Have a gunsmith polish the feed ramp. Remember, the 1911 was designed specifically for FMJ round nose ammo.

A little polishing of the feed ramp can help out tremendously in feeding other bullet styles.

IMHO, unless you are out to save the world,

or repair a rend in the space-time continuum,

+P is a total waste. Perhaps as a defense against

bears, or something, and admittedly YMMV, but

I'm not submitting my pistols to the additional battering

of hi pressure rounds. It seems normal ammo will do just

fine.

When I reload, it's generally to find a minimal powder load

which will cycle the gun. I already have enough problems with

shooting, in general, without paying extra to borrow trouble.

QFT.

IMHO, +p with .45 acp is a more about marketing than performance. 21,000 psi vs. 23,000 psi, is not enough for me to worry about when buying SD ammo.

Just bought a box of hornady +p in 230 using the xt bullet. Only because it was the only non Remington sd ammo on the shelf.

I don't much about psi numbers, but I have always heard that a 45acp will last longer than a 9mm because of the lower pressure. Seems like a 45acp+p would still be less psi than a 9mm and 9mms last forever it seems.
