.45 acp reload recipe.
I would like to know if anybody has any suggestions for a good practice range recipe. Bullet, powder, ect. Im trying my first stab at reloading and need a little help.. Thanks in advance..

Have you read a book yet? Most of us dont give out recipes unless we know that the person we are talking to is experienced. With this being your first post I would suggest you stop by the introductions thread and say hi.

How much research have you done. Have you made any practice rounds without primer or powder yet? Not trying to be a jerk. It is just that reloading is a very rewarding and satisfying hobby if you know what you are doing. If you over charge a round and blow up a gun...not so much.

Welcome to FTF. Reloading info is component based. There isn't really a standard recipe. We need more info.
Assuming you have purchased a press you will need a reloading manual. Your recipe will be in the manual based off of the brand and type of powder you buy and bullet weight etc.

Thanks mountainman 13. I hope the FTF will help me to reload my .45 and 9 mm shells. And im looking forward to reloading and pistol shooting talk.
I do have a reloader. Its a Lee 1000 progressive reloader. But I only have .45 die's at this time. I also have a frankfort armory tumbler, and the abc's of reloading book.
I am wanting to reload the .45 to be a genral practice and target round. I was thinking like a 230 grain fmj. I will look for the book for the recipes. any suggestions on what book to look for?
I know of one place im my area that sells reloading supplies. The other one is about 1 hr 45 min away from me.

Buler, i can give you the recipe i use. may or may not work as well with your pistols. i use Power Pistol powder and 200 or 230 gr Hornady XTP' bullets. in mine i get very good accuracy. i can't remember the exact powder charge right off the top of my head, but i got it from the LEE load data book.

i order a lot of my components from either MidwayUSA or MidSouth Shooters Supply. i buy my powder and primers from my LGS, so i don't have to pay HazMat fees.

Ok, thanks ax. im looking on the web for bullets and the data book. My LGS has the powder and primers in stock.

I use 230 gr ball sitting on top of 6 gr unique. My 1911 seems to like 'em well enuff.

Ok Buler. I just wanted to be sure you did your research. I use several diferent loads.

185 grain Berry's Plated Bullets with 4.9 grains of Titegroup.
200 grain lead cast flat point with 4.8 grains of Titegroup.
255 grain lead cast flat point with 3.9 grains of Titegroup.

All three loads are very acurate.
