.45 ACP Primers
I find myself completely out of Large Pistol primers, but I have a good stock of Large Pistol Magnum primers on hand. I use the Magnum primers in my .45 Long Colt Black Powder re-loads.

Can I use the Magnum Primers in the .45 ACP?

If your loads are at max, drop maybe a half grain from the charge.

I wouldn't worry about it, Hodgdon lists 4.0gr as a max load but just using a magnum primer shouldn't increase your pressure much, if any.

If you're worried about it drop down a .5 gr as mentioned above, and work your way up to preference. As long as your gun will fire the magnum primers they should work just fine for you.

Mag primers in .45acp.
:)As stated, just back off of max charge a little+will work fine. Hell, I have been using Small Rifle primers in some small pistol loads for awhile. I found some Rem. 61/2 primers at a deal. They are about the same power as Mag pistol primers, I have been told. Seem to work fine. I'll be glad when pistol primers become available again.:eek:

Yeah, been using Magnum CCI primers for years and haven't had any problems with them. I just drop the load on 231 Winchester powder or Bullseye for about 1/2 to 1 grain when I'm reloading 230 lead round nose on .45 ACPs. I haven't used Large pistol primers for years now.

lg primers
Just wondering if the lg. pistol primer is still hard to find back Tenn. way? Heading there for a bit, don't want any surprises. :)
