Hey guys, I'm starting over,again, reloading. I'd like to know your recipe for a 215 gr, SNS cast load for the 41 mag. My Blackhawk says its hungry! Any 41 shooters out there I'd like to hear from you Thanks! The Blackhawk Kid

prolly not a whole lot of folks with em. some im sure but its a pretty much dead caliber killed off by the 44mag and 45 colt offerings in stronger frames like the blackhawk.

I load cast in .41 Mag. I will have to look at my data at the house in the morning. I believe I have 296, 231, and Red Dot loads. Depends on what you are tyring to accomplish.

Here's a load I use for the 215 cast. 8 grains of unique. 7.8 is min. and 8.7 is max. If you want them to go a little faster try 2400 14.5 grains min. and 16.2 is max. These loads are from the 48th edition Lyman manual. The 49th doesn't even list a cast load for the 41 mag. The 41 is a great caliber, super accurate. All the hype over the 44 mag causes the 41 to be overlooked. I have both the 41 and 44 and if I had to choose just one, it would be the 41.

Maybe, but the fact is the .44 Caliber has a much broader range of bullets. The .44 can handle sub 200 grs. to the 320 grs. which is a real hammer. Handguns chambered for the .44 Mag. also shoots the .44 Russian and .44 Special as well as effective shot loads.
The .44 was birthed as a fire arm for hunters and out doorsman. The .41 was introduced as a law enforcement arm to replace the .357 Mag. It never happened. The .41 Mag. as the old .41 Colt is fast becoming a historical curiosity.

Maybe so, but there are many of us who prefer the .41 A 170s gr JHC @ 1650 is amazing. LBT makes molds a heavy as 350, but I see no use for anything heavier than 300 gr. A 215 gr gas check is very hard to beat for anything short of large bear. Don't write off the .41 just yet

Great post! I'm a .41 guy too. What molds and sizer are you using? Are you casting soft lead?
As I understand it, soft lead requires slow velocities or the barrel leads up.(?)

I purposely left out the Blue Dot data as Alliant no specifically does not recommend Blue Dot for the .41 Mag.
