.380 100gr w231 load question

Hello,

I have searched around and have not found anything specific for loading .380 auto 100gr jacketed rounded flat nose using w231. I seem to hit everything around it so what I came up with using the info I found is 3.2 grains(Lee disk .30). Before I load this I was just checking to see if any one would have any problems using this on a LCP. TIA

Hodgdon's site shows 2.9-3.1 grains of w231 behind a Hornady 100gr. FMJ.

My Hornady manual lists 2.6 - 3.5gr with a 100gr FMJ round nose. Didn't see one with 100gr flat nose.

If I were to load some with this data I would compare the flat nose bullet length with the round nose bullet and adjust my OAL accordingly.

A 90 Grn JHP is a much better self defense load in the .380.

The new Hornady with the red stuff in the hollow cavity is the best .380 self defense round going now.
You may just be loading pracice rounds and that's fine. If so, never mind on the 90 grn info.
If you are going to us your .380 for self defense, you want factory ammo for liability reasons and the best ammo you can buy.
Also, if you are shooting a lower priced blow back action like a Kel Tec, keep the load mid range.

My best, John K

Thanks for the tips. I was just checking to see if there was anything that stood out that may cause a problem using the load I described. Thanks all.
