okay for empty .308 cases. so the case shoud be2.015 .. how are the tolerances before i need to trim cases? would plus or minus .10 be too much? guess im asking how much difference should there be before trimming

I measure my .308 cases after they have been cleaned and put through the resizing die. I trim them to 2.015 for each loading. The reloading manuals I referenced listed 2.005 as the trim length. I hope this helps.

2.005 is the "trim length". Kind of the minimum length. 2.015 is the max length. When the case exceeds the max length, you trim it back to minimum.

I trim everything back to 2.005 so the crimp is consistant. I use the Lee Factory Crimp die because I shoot most of my .308 through auto loaders.
