Default.22lr blanks?

I was trying to find some information on blank 22lr cartridges today on google, but I was met with surprizingly little success. I was hoping someone might be able to give me some information on where I could locate some and as to their effectivness in a blowback operated rifle (10/22).

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

CCI is one company that loads them, I'm sure there are others. Cabelas
is an online source.

Are you asking if 22 blanks will operate a 10/22? No. You could probably
modify a blowback 22 to function on blanks, but it would take a lot
of mods. Restricted barrel, aluminum bolt, light recoil spring for starters.

Revolver, or a tube fed lever, pump or bolt action that will feed shorts
is your best bet for a repeater.

taking some guesses as why you want blanks.

blank cartidges in any caliber are innefictive for anything other than starting races. and for starting races you cannot use an actual firearm, a starter pistol must be used.

discharging blanks from a firearm inside city limits for celebratory purposes is still illegal in most places.

they are completely innefictive for home defense or hunting.

they are totally useless for target shooting

they are totally useless for training.

the only useful application for blank cartridges is in a military training environment as they are used to activate the laser pulse of MILES gear when fired from the M249SAW, M60 machine gun, M2 .50 caliber machine gun, and M16 rifle.

Most well supplied gun shops have .22 blanks- they are used in starter pistols. Shorter than a short, crimped ends. They have no appreciable recoil, so they will not cycle a semi auto. They are also dangerous at close range- the jet of gas can be deadly at point blank range. The .22 cartridges made for powder actuated tools have a LOT more power, and can damage firearms.

Thanks everyone for your replys.

The main reason I asked was to simply see if they could be easily located. The only reason I'd want them is for training purposes but if they wont succesfuly cycle the action on a stock 10/22, then I really have no need for them.

Once again, thanks to all for your help and advice!
