.223 rounds
what would be the best factory round without reloading my own for a howa m-1500 .223 with a 1/12 twist. Shooting Hornady 55grain v-max now but those are the only ones I have shot.

It is nearly impossible to predict what ammo your particular rifle will "like". If the V-max's are working well, stick to them. Experiment. That is the only way to know for sure. With a 1/12 barrel, you will likely find 55gr to be the heaviest bullet that will shoot well. V-max is a very good choice anyway.

the 12 twist will handle any bullet up to 62gr. Above that and you don't stablize the bullet.

Buy a few different rounds and see what it likes. Look at Black Hills Blue box stuff. I had good luck with them.

I would be a bit less optimistic and say the 1/12 "may" stabilize up to 62 gr bullets. It depends on the bullet (Length), velocity and barrel length.

That is the fun of it all. You get to log trigger time while experimenting.

Trajectory tables?
I now shoot 62gr Mil-Surp. LC "Grn Tip". It seems to fly tight. I zeroed for 100. Good tight groups. However, my 50yd impact is 6-8" low? Is there that much difference or is it me? Does any one have or know of the trajectory table for CAR/M15 using 62gr?
