.223 Bushmaster M4 max load
Does anoyone know what the max pressure the Bushmaster M4 chambered in .223/5.56mm can handle? I know different powders yeild different muzzle velocities for the same weight so until I get a reloading press and figure out what powder yeilds the best accuracy for my Bushmaster I will stick to pressure. Much abliged for your input.

Max pressure is double that what is listed in the records as a max pressure. This is a one time thing and will destroy the firearm.

Why are you wanting to run max pressure loads anyways? If you are shooting factory ammo they are all going to be close to the same pressure because if they weren't they would get sued like no ones business.

So I am not really sure what you are wanting to do here.

But to directly answer your question 62,366 psi.

I wanted to know to make sure I didn't accidentally destroy my firearm or hurt myself.

You should buy a few reloading manuals. Powder manufacturers also have data on their websites. They both give you the max load for a specific bullet/ weight. Max loads are not always the most accurate.

I've got the Hornady reloading manual but it doesn't differentiate what the max load is for the AR-15 style rifles vs. bolt action rifles. I just wanted to make sure I didn't make a stupid mistake.

I would look at getting a Sierra 5th edition reloading manual. In my eyes Sierra is the best out there. It also breaks down 223 loads into ar loads and bolt gun loads.
