Default .204 ruger loads...

well, I finally put 100 rounds (Rem. accutip) through my 700 LVS, and I was wondering what you guys have as far as loads that shoot well, and clean. also what do you guys think of the cartridge it's self? I really only ground hog hunt with is, so bullet choice is important.

it should be hell on grass guzzlers here in VA that is if you can find them.

My dads Ruger M77MkII VT likes the 32gr Hornady offerings. The bad thing is you will not get close to the factory velocity because of the powder they use (So the Nice sexy voiced lady at Hornady told me). I think if you used a VV N130 or 530 you would get close. That VV N530 is a bad azz powder.

I use VV N130 in my 223 and I am getting 3650 fps out of it with 50gr bullets that is not a max load either that is a load in the middle of the range.

The only thing I have shot with mine, so far, is paper. I shoot a H&R Handi-rifle with a 32 grain Hornady V-max bullet with 27 grains of Varget. I tried the 40 grain but it just would not stablize in that short barrel (22in). I just got some 34 grain MidwayUSA-Dogtown Bullets in, but haven't loaded any yet to see how they are. I hope thay shoot good because they are cheaper!!

Lets just say cleaning time of the barrel after a day at the range and 250 rounds later was aprox 5 minutes. Yes N130 and all the VV powders are very clean burning.

Varget is also another good performer in the 222rem mag, 204, 223 cartridges. I use it most of the time in my 223. Because for me to get VV N130 it cost me $39 a pound where as the last varget I bought set me back $19 a pound. Now it would be $24 locally....

I do not know what N130 is, but I can say that your thrower would probably NOT like Varget, it is a cylinder type powder.

Varget and VV N130 (vita vouri) are a short cut stick power. VV N130 is shorter than Varget but both are short.
