2011 Lake City Brass 5.56 NATO
Just something I ran across today reloading. I was given some once fired
brass. The crimp was not what is the usual, round crimp tool. But what
I would call a 4 point staked primer. Have any of you reloaders seen this?

They reamed and reprimed without issue, just something I noticed.

I just got my 2500 brass I ordered a couple weeks ago, I have sized and deprimed about a third of it so far and it all looks like a normal crimp so far, I havent started decrimping them yet maybe I will find some oddballs, I'll keep an eye out.

I have only seen staked primers on HXP Greek brass in .30-06 that I got at CMP a few years ago. They are easy to remove.

Yes, I've seen it, and have a lot of brass with that type of primer retention. It is quite common. As was said it removes easier because less brass is displaced than is with a full circle crimp that is more common.
