Just a little curiosity poll here. What was your first shotgun, and do you still have it? Mine is a Savage model 24 410/22 over and under. Still have it and shoot it on a regular basis.

Mine was a Stevens 22/410 and I still have mine as well, but haven't shot it in years. I still have a box of 410 shells from the 1940's when my uncle bought the gun.

Got this for a Christmas gift from my parents back in 1974. Remington 870 Wingmaster 12ga. Came with a 26" vent rib imp. cyl. barrel.

Through the years, I have added to having all the barrels at the time you could get for it. All are vent rib, 28" mod / 30" full / 20" rifle open sight slug.
This shotgun has ran 1000's and 1000's of rounds through it. Shot on the trap n skeet fields, sporting clays, ducks, doves, turkeys, hogs, deer etc.
Never had any problems with it or has never seen a gunsmith. It is still shot every month at something.

My first shotgun was an F.I.E SB 1 in .410. It was a Christmas gift from my mom and dad when I was 14, and something I had been dreaming about since I first saw it at the local Western Auto in the sporing of that year. I mowed a lot of lawns that spring and summer trying to save up for it, and dad took me down to get it in September. Imagine my heartbreak when we got there and it was gone.

It turns out that dad had sent mom down to pick it up while I was at school that day, and she told the clerk to say it had been sold to someone else 2 days earlier. Mom and dad put it behind the tree early on Christmas morning, and then made me open that present last. To sat the least, it was my favorite gift that year.

I still have it. I have a couple friends and 1 or 2 family members who have been trying to trade for it or buy it from me for the last 20 years. I tell them that I would sooner sell one of my internal organs rather than sell that shotgun. Too many good memories of time spent afield with the dogs and my dad. the only way I will ever get rid of it will be to pass it on to one of my grand children. Given the fact that my step-daughter is on 16, that won't happen for quite a while.

I'm waiting for a grandchild to hand the savage to. Since I have none yet, I'm thinking its mine for another 15-20 years yet! 😎
