I've been out of the shotgun zone for decades but now they're raining on me like a cloudburst.
The first was a NIB Mossy 500 synthetic home and field combo with the two bead,ribbed 28 inch and choke set and the breecher style 18 for less than a new Wally World standard Maverick.

About two weeks later a guy walks into one of my regular shop stops with a fairly new 12 gauge Wing Master to put on consignment.
The gun had been left in a truck rack for about three weeks during a rainy foggy period and in spite of a valiant effort to clean up the rust the gun still has a pitted muzzle,a wavy streak the full length of the barrel,light pitting at the lower edge of the receiver and deep pitting at the grip end .
It was clear that the shop guys wanted this gun about as much as a bad case of bed lice.When I asked if they minded me making an offer they were clearly resisting the urge to dance on the counter.
The guy knew that the gun was trashed and it left with me for the price of a discounted Hi Point 9mm compact.
Now for the question: Will a three inch mag 870 express barrel work on my three inch mag Wing Master receiver?Same question for a 2-3/4 express barrel on the WM receiver.(I'm more than happy to give up the three inch chambers for the right barrel configuration)

The 870 Express will shoot either 2 3/4" or 3" shells, if you want 3 1/2" you have to get the super mag.

I have an 870m (3 inch receiver) that I have used a 2.75 inch chambered spare barrel on to shoot 2.75 inch shells.

You just can't use a 2.75 receiver with a 3 inch chambered barrel to shoot 3 inch shells.

A few years ago, I solved all of this by purchasing a 3 inch chambered, 26 inch barrel that uses the Remchokes.

In the early days of the 870, most were 2.75 inch only. I had to special order my 3 inch 870 in 1981.

The short version of the question as simply put...is there any reason why a standard 3 inch mag Express barrel will not fit a 3 inch Wing Master
receiver?

I've already got the 3 inch WM and a killer trade for skills deal on a rifle sighted full rifled 2-3/4 or three inch Express barrel but it's a case of jump while it's hot.....thanks again

Any 3" or 2-3/4" 870 or express barrel will work on your receiver.

Part 2: The WM.conversion leaves me with a scarred 30 inch vent rib barrel.

On another skills for work trade I can get the barrel lathe cut and threaded for chokes.The gun would be cut at the vertical base closest to 18 inches,probably about 18-1/2 to 19 inches. Choked for cylinder or IC I have a good defense or short barrel smoothbore slug gun,add a 4 to 6 inch
extended turkey choke or straight bore tube to quick change back to a mid length field gun,rib mounted high-viz sights for faster old eyes and a grooved receiver mounted rail for red dot or scope. The goods have been located or already in hand and the cost is less than a cantilever barrel.
My small frame likes shorter length barrels (24-28 inches)and versatility is the key.

I would be grateful for any useful input, opinions or ideas. Clearly shotguns are not my main forte but I think I grasp what is wanted and needed.
