winchester model 37 16 gauge

Hello gentlemen,
I just purchased a model 37 single shot 16 gauge. Does anyone know what the measurements are that differeniate the years? I've heard that the lever that opens the breach is different with certian years. Any help is appreciated.

Are you talking about comparing the 37 to the 37A?

I heard that the width of the lever that opens the breech was Changed between 1936 and 137 and between 1937 and 1939

I believe the early ones were stamped "Winchester" on the bottom of the action.

Only thing I can tell you is the 37, 370, 37A, & the 840, were all pretty similar, except the break release lever & hammer are turned around & the forearm attachment is different on the 370...............Check out Numrich.

And the actual 37 is worth quite a bit more than the others

Probably depends on condition, I only gave 30 bucks for the one I pictured, it has a chip out of the stock & no butt plate

No if you have a original 37 and a 37a or a 370 all in the same condition the 37 will be worth more I'm not sure of the worth off the top of my head I will look when I get home and let you know
