I have my grandfathers from 1910. It's 16 ga. Open hammer. Breakdown with a really nice leather and brass case. I used it in cowboy action and it served me well even with full choke.
During the depression my grandfather would line up 2 geese on the beach of Lake Geneva WI, and bag them one shot. It was meat not sport in those times.
I have slam fired it many times. It's fun but not accurate. Ok if your in a trench, although it is not a trench gun.
Some bluing is gone, and there are scratches on the stock. They all tell a story so I would never have it refinished.
