They are not "shottys". They are "shotguns".

The 1200's are great guns. The subsequent 1300s are even better. Few differences between them. I have not seen any on the web for some time.

As my agency was probably the biggest user of these shotguns in the US, I too am fond of them. Hopefully we will be selling off some of our 200+ 1200s and 1300s soon. I'm gonna buy 3 or 4

The Winchester 1200/1400 series of guns are not well thought of. I am sure you may know someone who has one that had gone 100,000 rounds with no issues, but that is a real rarity. They were the first of the reduced costs Winchesters, and they went too far with the cost cutting measures. The 1400 is long gone, and the 1200 morphed fairly rapidly into the 1300, and then the Speed Pump, and now the SXP. Each iteration has had a few material upgrades.

You could also look into the Ranger 120 which was basically a 1300 with a cheaper hardwood stock to keep the price down. They were geared towards military and police, but some became available to the public. IIRC only about 5000 were ever made. I have one, it's my only shotgun, and it does its job.
