I've had my New Haven 600 (made by Mossberg), for close to 25 years now, the action is smooth as silk, can use any barrel or accessory that the 500 uses. Never had any problems with it, just need to get an 18.5" barrel (it has a slug barrel on it currently) and maybe a barrel for bird hunting.

I've also shot Rem 870's and they are very nice.

I've got my father's Browning A5 Featherweight (vintage around 1952, Made in Belgium)) and it is a sweet shooting shotgun.

It's what you prefer in a shotgun, if I had found an 870 for what I paid for my 600 I might have bought that instead.

It is also called a turkey shoot, beef shoot, or meat shoot it is shooting at a razor blade cut + in a piece of plywood with a shotgun from a long distance away. Here is one of my boards. This is a 10 shot board shot from 50yds away using 7 1/2 shot Winchester AA Target Loads I won a rear quarter of a beef with this board.

Here is a link to a video that the outdoor channel took at one of the local shoots.
It will explain the shoot a little better.

I have owned a Mossberg 500 all my life. People can say what they want but when you get down to the bare facts the Mossberg 500 is the most reliable shotgun you can buy at any price. For $340 you can get a combo with a rifled slug barrel and a 28" accu choke barrel through Davidsons. If you get a Mossberg 500 fitted by a competent gunsmith and you shoot pumps well there is no better shotgun, only more expensive shotguns. Most trick shooters shoot pump shotguns made by the company that sponsors them.
