Default Whats the best shotgun?

I'm looking at getting a pump action shotgun for home defense, but also one I can skeet shoot with. Anyone have some suggestions?

The biggest debate on the pump 12ga is the Remington 870 vs mossberg 500. Both have an endless supply of accessories. They are both extremely reliable. You can not go wrong with eater of these. Both used by military and law enforcement.

I have a 870 in 3 1/2" after thousands of rounds I have never had a problem. A buddy of mine has a 870 3" he keeps in his toolbox. We usually shoot skeet every other Sunday. He has never cleaned it not even once since he bought it about 5 years and 4,000 to 5,000 rounds ago. It has never had a ftf or any other problem. He dose have minor surface rust due to leaving in in his truck toolbox and never cleaning it.

870 or mossberg 500 would do well. They both have long barrels available for your skeet/trap needs and are easy to swap out.

Browning BPS...if you're a lefty and want bottom eject. Smooth as silk and reliable.

I have the Moss 500 for HD & have used my brothers 870 hunting. Both are really good guns.

A question for you shotgun people. My cousin just bought the 870 express w/26" barrel. It jammed on him 4 times and he said twice he had to take it apart to get the rest of the shells out. Any ideas of what's going on? They own shotguns, pistols, and rifles so they're not new to firearms.

Well the ammo should not be the problem an 870 will cycle anything unless there is a problem with it. Is he working the action properly? If you do
Not open the chamber all the way before racking it shut it might jam. Just bc it ejected the empty shell dose not mean you opened the action all the way.

Can't go wrong with a Mossberg 590A1.
