I clean and lubricate my guns with breakfree clp, molybednum grease.

I havent used hopes in years but many people like it.

Im not sure what ur asking on your shotgun, if you mean "how do i remove rust", then 0000 steel wool and just about any oil will do it.

If you mean "how do i remove the rust colored grease my gun was shipped in", commonly called cosmoline then just about any solvent will do it, wd40, simple green, mineral spirits, diesal fuel, automotive parts degreaser, afterwards give it a light coating of break free and youll be in tall cotton.

Wd40 evoporates leaving behind a rust preventing coating, people dont like it on guns becuase if you spray it in the action over and over it will eventually build up and gum up the action, however, its safe to spray on a rag and use to wipe up cosmoline or remove rust by spraying it on the steel wool and rubbing the gun.

Break free is a milspec gun oil, availble at most sporting goods stores, most marines swear by it.
