I was thinking about the mossberg 590 shotgun because the bayonet lug it comes with and all the other stuff but i do not have the option to put a 28 inch barrel with chokes for hunting so that turned me off what other shotguns are there??

Your favorite Remington 870 or mossberg 500 model. Tons of aftermarket parts. Here's my 870 with a 28 inch vent ribbed barrel for bird hunting, an 18.5 inch HD barrel, and a 24 inch rifled barrel/scope combo (shoots sabot slugs) for big game hunting over 150yds. Btw I dont use the pistol grip anymore.. Pointless

Get a Mossberg 500 special purpose and buy an extra 28in barrel for it. Keep the short barrel on it, and when you want to hunt put the 28in on it.

Thats a nice setup blakester has on the 870 I really like the bayonet lug on the 590 i think im just going to go with the mossberg 500 and just weld a bayonet lug onto the home defense barrel at big 5 they sell a mossberg 500 that comes with 2 barells for only 350$

Another vote for the Mossy 500 here. You can use the 18.5" barrel for home defense, the 28" for bird hunting, the rifled slug barrel with rifle-type sights for deer hunting, and even the available black powder/muzzle-loader barrel for going old school on some critters.

I did a side-saddle shell holder for quicker reloads and a stock with a pistol grip for additional control.
