What is the best mossberg 500 model?
Im not very sure what all the models are but i know there is a persuader and cruiser model that hold 8 shots and there are other models as well but im not sure what they are? Can sombody please tell me? And also what is the most versitile model i know there are combo deals at big 5 that come as a package with a security barrel and pistol grip and also a 28 inch barrel with the buttstock can sombody please tell me what model that is? I would like to be able to interchange the barrels one for home defense and the other for hunting and also, are the 28 inch barrels able to accept chokes? Okay thx

Their website offers some pictures of different models. I have a model from the late 1970's that has a fixed-choke barrel, since then, it's been screw-in chokes to my knowledge.
Generally, the barrels will fit any model with the same length ammo tube. I have the standard length ammo tube and the stock 28" barrel and a 18.5" security barrel (cylinder bore/open choke).
I would not advise you to get a model that comes only with a pistol grip; a 12 guage has a heck of a kick for a pistol grip.

It depends on what you need/want it to do? The question is like asking which variant of F-150 is best. V-6, V-8, Ecoboost, 2dr, 4dr, Supercab, stepside, fleetside, 6 ft or 8 ft bed, 2WD, 4WD?

If you want a really flexible gun you can do anything with the plain old wood stock field model is the best. It has a steel tube so you can install that tacti cool forearm with the flashlight built into it. It has an SAE bolt holding the stock on the gun so you can go to the hardware store and get a bolt without the aid of an engineer. It comes with combinations of barrels so you can do a lot with one gun.

It is my understanding that you have more dove hunting barrel options with the shorter ammo tube.

I would get a Mossberg 500. They build a bunch designs from this platform, changing and adding things are easiest on this platform. That's what the ones you mentioned are(500's)
