Wards Hercules 51 Double Barrel- Doesn't cock
 

A neighbor has a Wards Hercules Model 51 Double Barrel that doesn't cock when it's broken open and closed. It's just a wall decoration now, but it would be nice if it was usable again. Thoughts? Thanks!

First, welcome- and when you get a minute, drop by the intro thread and tell us about you.

As far as the double, could be a couple of things- involving the sear, springs, etc. A decent smith should be able to pinpoint the problem pretty quickly. However, depending n the PARTS needed, that could take a lot longer.

If you pull the stock off you can clean the sear area. Sometimes it is just some crud gets in there to screw up the works.

Doesn't sound like a tough fix. Basically if I can clean a gun I can fix this one. He doesn't want to mess with it anymore and wants me to take it off his hands. Probably for $75.
