very old shotgun
I found a shotgun at a pawnshop that is double barrel side by side, it has a lever under the barrel about 6" long that swings to the side to break down. it is missing a hammer and a plate on the side but the plate on the other side says "Richardson" which is the only marking on it. It looks to be a 16, does anyone know what model this could be?

Probably Belgian made. Look for ELG under a crown. Maybe under forearm.

If it is are they worth anything in rough shape? The shop has it around 50 but I think I can get them down. Are there any parts available

Very little and parts will be hard to come by. Probably has damascus barrels which if in good shape are safe with black powder charges but most people are too scared to shoot them. Chambers will most likely be 2 1/2 inches.

thanks for the input I'll probably stay away

i went ahead and took a closer look and bought it. It says Richards not Richardson. The marking under the barrels says "JD 00" I would love any info you have.

Well, there are 2 that jump to mind- The first is the Westley Richards- excellent, high $$$$ British gun. Then there is the W. Richards. Back about 1900, Sears and a few other folks sold guns that "sounded like" well known brands. So you had "Barker" instead of "Parker". They were for the most part cheap, Belgian made, etc. And NO relation to the original. Sorta like noticing the watch you are so proud of is marked "R O L U X".

And this thread is like sex-

here are some pictures its hard to read but the side plate says "RICHARDS" the bottom of the barrel says "JD 00" I know it is rough but its just unique and something I've never seen before so at worst I have a $30 mantel piece

I was told on shotgun world that is a Lefaucheaux Action made in Belgium but it does not have the ELG mark but it has "JD 00" under the barrels
