Trying to decide on a new shotgun for home defense

Mossberg maverick 88 12 gauge pump or the Remington 870. It is a home defense gun , can anyone give any reviews or insight on what to buy or not to buy it would be much appreciated

If i had a nickle for every thread like this i would have, well, like 10 nickles, still new here, hehe

But seriously i have had an 870 for years, i will keep my 870 for years until i pass it off. Try to find an older one, the new ones have been unfortunately lacking in quality and fortitude.
Buy a used one from the 80's or early 90's and it will live longer than you will.

Look at the H&R Pardner, it is a clone of the 870.:)

For me personally, as my avatar might suggest, I would go with the maverick out of those two.

Check out a Judge. Much handier around the house. No bumping into things and knocking them over with that long barrel which does you no good at 10'. Just a legal sawed off shotgun. If you must have that long barrel, go with the Mossberg.

Thank y'all for the insight , I think I'm going to choose the maverick.

If you can swing it I would get the 8 shot maverick. If you use three 2 3/4" shells you can get 9 in it. Nine shots of pure hell is plenty to defend your castle.

Maverick will do just fine, pics when you get it!

I have had both. I have an 870 now, but my Maverick was my go to gun for the entire 18 years that I had it. I passed it on to a friend who's son is using it now. I'm pretty sure that it will still be getting used long after I am gone.
