Trap shooting
Just got out if my trap shooting meet and was finally doing good then my gun messes up (just my luck) I use a Hastan escort magnum 20 gauge 3 shot and then had to use a very un-familiar gun and lost my leading position in my group and I was wondering if any one knew or had any experience with this gun and would suggest another shotgun to me to not only shoot trap but also hunt

I shoot a beretta al391 for trap and an 1100 for clays. Both have 30" barrels.
Depending on what you want I would recommend an 1100 for an auto or an 870 for a pump. I would suggest at least a 28" barrel if not a 30". Definitely one with screw in choked. If you happen to find one with fixed choke then mod or full. |
What would a Berretta 1100 with a screw in choke run usually

Actually its a remington 1100. They have been made since the 60's so there is a ton of used ones out there. Depending on condition or the grade you can find them for anywhere from $300 all the way up to thousands. Check Guns - Online Gun Auction - Guns for Sale at GunBroker.com

The 1100 is a Remington. It makes a good all around gun.
What price range are you looking at, and what you are wanting to hunt with it? One thing about a gun that is specific for trap is that it will not usually be the best for hunting, because of the design of a trap gun. It will have a higher comb and sometimes higher vent rib and will usually shoot above point of aim for rising targets. I've seen more than a few hunting guns on trap fields, but never a trap gun out hunting. I've shot a Ruger O/U for Pheasant, and if a person is shooting trap casually, not shooting ATA for example, they could probably do well with one. |
