I have been cleaning my guns with WD-40 for 50 years.

Been using WD-40 on some older guns with surplus ammo or loaded for black powder.

A well soaked patch after scrubbing and rinsing gets all the water out and doesn't interfere with the final lube patch.Haven't lost a barrel yet+way cheaper than most other products.

ALL...be careful using any penetrating product on firearms. If it gets on ammo it can penetratein between bullet and shell or primer(hehe) and shell, and ruin the powder. I'm not completely sure of the outcome but it can't be good. Be careful of drips and runs anywhere they could contact ammo.

WD-40 only in the barrel and chamber...I strongly resist fired rounds in other parts of the gun...

Not as strange as it looks..I meant that I don't soak guns in anything and the WD-40 use as described was for barrels and chambers only.

I generally use Lubriplate in three styles on the interiors of most guns so migration is almost zero with anything but the white version.

On second thought the first post looks weird to me too.Guess I was trying to say on firing surfaces only.

I'm a confirmed digital dinosaur and sometimes I get so focused on the keyboard my brain gets in a different place than my fingers.

I try to avoid alcohol in any combination with cars, guns or power tools.
