Here's my Mossy 500 Tactical. I paid a little over $300 for it plus $100 for the light. I love the pistol grip, kinda reminds me of holding my... pistolI find that when bringing the shotgun to ready position, the pistol grip helps me to quickly register my trigger hand. For example, mine leans against the wall next to my bed; when I grab it quickly, the first thing I grab is the forearm of the gun. As I bring it up, I grab the pistol grip and I'm ready. I just feel like I can be ready to fire a hair quicker with the pistol grip 'cause my hand is exactly where it needs to be.

If it is just for the home I would go with the pistol grip myself, but that is what I am comfortable with. Some persons need that butt stock and some dont. You just need to try both of them and see what one fits you the best.

Another thing I like about the pistol grip is that I can pull the buttstock tighter into my shoulder pocket. That helps with overall maneuverability of the gun IMO.

I've had quite a few brands and models in 12 gauge including Benelli Nova tactical, Rem. 870 tactical, mossberg 500 pistol grip, mossberg 590A1. All have been very good shotguns. I feel it's awefully difficult to screw up a pump action shotgun. All were purchased for around $300 or just a little more. I would stay away from the pistol grip (Only pistol grip, no buttstock) I loved mine until I shot it.

It's a Tac Star from my local gunshop. $100. It works great for me, and it's cheaper that a Surefire or Taclight. I like having the wire remote switch instead of having to switch it on and leave it on. I think you can buy a forearm with a tactical rail but it'll cost more $$.

It won't work on the 500 Tactical like mine but it will work on the 500 Persuader.

Sorry, what I meant was it won't work with any of the 500's with an 18.5" barrel. Should work with 20" and longer. with the 18.5" barrel there's just not enough room on the tube to clamp that tactical rail to. Go to mossberg.com and look at the special purpose shotguns. Compare a Persuader 18.5" to a 20" and you'll see what I mean.
