Default T and J hardware no2 12 gauge

Can anyone tell me anything about this shotgun? It's been in the family since about the 60's. my dad has made it his new project and I want to learn anything I can. Only markings read T&J hrdwre no. 2

Well it is probably much older than the 60's(maybe 1900 to 1930 or so). Most likely made by Stevens (Savage). Though it could be made by a couple other companies instead. Not made by T&J hrdwre.

Looks like a Crescent Fire Arms Company product, 1893-1930 . I hope that barrel is 18" or more long.

Try www.gunstocksinc.com or www.boydsgunstocks.com. I think they make Crescent replacement stocks.

Agree that Crescent is a likely suspect. At one time, if you paid for the die, you could buy a dozen shotguns and have them marked with the name of YOUR store. Have a list somewhere of over 200 names that they used- and that was only the more popular names.

Here are some pics of a Crescent single shot-

I knew T and J was just the name of a hardware store in New York or New Jersey I believe. I will look up Crescent shotguns and check some of the links you guys gave me. And yes the barrel is 18 1/2 inches. Can I find out what year it was made by looking up the serial #?
