If you have a Red Label and love it, congratulations, but they have a known dubious history.
I do have a Red Label and do love it, I was not aware of the problems you mention. Mine has been flawless since 1988. 150-200 birds a week at the trap range in those days, tapered off a good bit in the mid '90s but gonna ramp it back up this spring as my shooting buddy and I are on the same shift now.

Why yes they do!

Got a great price on this used Stoeger Uplander that had 28" full choke barrels, but I really wanted was a coach gun, and I own a hacksaw so...

The wood finish was worse than some I've seen on used war relics but after stripping off the old finish I discovered it really had some kind of nice Brazilian hardwood under there so I just refinished it.

Then one day I pulled both triggers at the same time on some 00 Buck and decided I also wanted to add a recoil pad!

Were I to buy a double barrel for HD I would opt for exposed hammers because when you close the barrels on this one, the shotgun hammers are cocked period.

Nice tight action though and no problems at all with function.

upon thought, just the fact that this firearm coined the term "riding shotgun" is more than enough reason to validate the purchase of one....

seriously, tough.....coach guns are a great all around gun imo. not the best at anything, but good enough at any need that would arise i would assume. pick one up and shoot it....you'll like it.

The blue receivers are most definitely the prettiest ones, mine is a 20 gauge, extended forcing cones, ported, with 9 different chokes
