Twelve years ago I purchased a Stevens model 79 pump 12 gauge shotgun with a 30" barrel used. The serial # is 0982XXX. Does anyone know the approximate manufacture date of this shotgun?

Thanks Hiwall! It narrows the time frame down to tenish years or so.
On one side of the barrel near the receiver is stamped 81 inside a circle. On the other side of the barrel S8P is stamped inside a circle. Both marks are by the rib on the barrel.
