Call me stupid for asking this question but is it ok to shoot a slug thru a smooth bore none rifled shotgun barrel? Lol i hope so ive been doing it all my life and never thought about wether or not i should do it

Yep, slugs were made for shotguns. And no, not a stupid question- some version of it gets asked here a lot.

Smoothbore uses a rifled slug. Rifled shotguns use sabot slugs. You will probably get best accuracy out of something OTHER than full choke. Would NOT shoot a slug thru an Extra Full, like turkey hunters use, but cylinder to full is OK.

Rifled slugs are slightly undersized, are very soft lead, big hollow inside, and the rifling on the outside of the slug is to allow it to squeeze down a bit if fired thru a choke.

Thanks i usually only shoot with a regular full choke anyways and two of my shottys dont even hold a choke and i always shoot rifled slugs. Thanks for the help

If you look over the box of slugs on there some where it often says "safe for all shotguns". Or something to that effect.

Well, I need to file C3's reply in my memory banks, because that's something that always puzzled me as to why a rifled slug could be fired through a full choke.
