It's not important man; kind of an inside thing with a few of the old-timers. Please, continue with your threading.

Butters mayhem!!! Yeeeeeeee freaking haaaaaaawwww!!!!

Kidding man. Stick around and you'll get it one day.

Seriously, don't worry about slugs. They'll do the job.

It all depends on distance. The old rule-of-thumb was have 1000 ft/lbs for deer size game. A regular 12 ga 2-3/4" 1 oz slug has about 1000 ft/lbs at about 130 yards.

I do during fire arms season out of my Mossberg 500 rifled barrel.
The last deer I shot only took 3 more staggering steps after the shot then dropped.
Here in Indiana it is about the most powerful round we can use.

U have been hunting here in Chautauqua county NY for 25 years. Untill last year, all we could ever use is slugs. I have never had to track a deer more than 60 yards when I have shot it. I have used 20 and 12 gauge slugs out to 75 yards, and generally speaking, I have always found 2 holes for every shot that I have placed. One in, one out. about 1/3 of the deer I have shot dropped right where they were hit. That third were all hit within 40 yards, and 2 of them were head shots. One ounce of lead, traveling at 1,350 FPS, is very devastating. I have taken 4 bears in the last 20 years, and only one was with a rifle. The other 3 were with a 12 gauge 2 3/4 slug at 30 yards. If I had to choose a round to depend on based on stopping power, it would be a 12 gauge 2 3/4 or 3 inch slug.

Ever seen mythbuster where they were testing bullets fired into water and the 12ga slug went though the bottom of the tank and flooded the shop ? .50 bgm did not even do that .
I got slugs ready to rock in my judge and feel for who ever gets hit with them .
Also know first hand that a 12 ga slug with go through a engine block with ease
