Does anyone have any experience hunting with 12ga slugs?
I'm doubting the power that I thought they had :(

Why would you doubt the power of a 1 ounce chunk of lead that travels at anywhere from 1200 to nearly 2000 feet per second?

Now, it's a round that's nominally intended for less than 150 yards for accuracy and loss of velocity, but up to that, it's freaking devastating.

Here's what it does in ballistics gel...

Try one on a nice absorbant target, maybe a bear. Lots of dead deer would disagree with your evaluation.

Because of people saying it will get stuck in the hide of a bear or in any African dangerous game animal
And I'm talking about 2 ounces going 1200 fps.....yeah 870gr 73.cal slug going 1200 fps made of solid metal alloy producing around 2500ftlbs and I was told it would be ineffective for anything but mule deer and white tails

Is that why there are so many stories on the googleverse of folks loading their shotguns with slugs for bear defense?

Check your sources, check your facts. Can it happen? I'm sure it can. Hell, I've seen crazier shiite than that.

No I would trust a 12ga slug with my life to stop anything that walks or has vitals!
It's not me who doesnt think it can do it....
I want to hear something positive to build my confidence lol
