Semi autos can hang with any O/U in the right hands. I remember when the Remington Model 1100 first arrived. There were not that many O/Us about back then, and the gun writers hadn't really started preaching that they were THE answer. Or that 32" barrels were an absolute necessity if you were serious. It ran - and I mean ran - everything else off the ranges, and the scores that were racked up by the best shooters were likely better than any of us will ever have to worry about with the absolute best shotguns developed 20 years in the future from now. IF you like O/Us - and I don't - they offer the advantage of not having to pick up shells, and the good ones will go a long time between parts failures - longer than an auto usually because they are way less complicated. The advantage of a semi or a 2 barreled gun over a pump is that the ONLY thing the shooter has to worry about is hitting the target. For singles trap, almost any gun will work, but if you look at what the really good shooters are shooting, and all the add ons and what not, you will quickly see what separates the top 0.001% from the rest.
