Not necessarily. Depends on the gun and the choke. Many a .410 have been blown up trying. They are really a .41. Some people have shortened the barrel to cut off the choke on the older guns. But it can still be dangerous. But some guns were made to do it. If you decide to try it, I would use a string tied to the trigger with a sandbag laying on top of the shotgun. No way I would hold it in my hand. But be prepaird to throw it away.

Oh ok. So would a 41mag work in it or is it just a completely diffrent size? It didn't apear to have a choke in it.

I would definately not try a 41 mag. Way too much pressure. Probably would not be a proper fit in the chamber either. Some single shot shotguns are made to shoot the 45 colt and the .410. I have a barrel for my contender that is that way.

If you really what to shoot a single projectile get some .410 slugs or buy a shotgun designed for it. If anyone told me to do it...I would watch them do it first!

Re: Using pistol ammo-

NO !

Shotguns are made for a different order of pressure entirely. Guns that shot 410/ 45 Colt, like the Judge, were MADE to do that.

Got a half dozen or so of the single and bolt action .410s, and an 1100 Light Field in .410. Fun guns- and if you need to learn to be humble, go shoot a round of Sporting Clays with a .410

My first shotgun was an H&R single shot .410...black wood stock, stainless receiver, and blued barrel. Sexy?....not really...more nostalgic for me. Hell of A good time though. Cannot wait for my daughter to get older to teach her to use it. Still have it and still in perfect shape. Worth the money for sure!

Im pretty sure this one was an h&r however it wasn't stainless. I've always kinda liked the idea of a single shot just for somthing to mess around with.

personally i'd go about $75-80 and if so i'd buy it. a 410 is handy and still fun for me to shoot.

the cost of 410 ammo where i live runs about $2-4 higher than 12 and 20 ga. ammo. not a huge selection but enough.

I don't get too caught up in .410 cost. I keep a couple hundred round s on hand to plink, shoot varmints and nuisance birds, and the rare small game hunt in season.
